Minor Setbacks

Mid August…

Even though I have been waiting for the bikes I was on my game for training. Running a 3-4 times a week in the morning, bicycle riding 3 times a week in the evenings and riding 2-3 times a week. I was really making progress in physical conditioning and then the injuries came.

Getting up from the couch running for the phone I caught the leg of a chair with my pinky toe. Terrible pain and a toe pointing ninety degrees out the side was a sign it was more than just stubbed. And they say riding is dangerous…

After trying to straighten it out, it still wasn’t quite right

A trip to the hospital and a few x-rays confirmed multiple brakes in the little toe

Two and a half weeks later I was back on the bicycle and feeling good until a pressure treated 4×8, 3/4″  still wet sheet of plywood slipped out of the hands and landed on the same foot. Ouch! This hurt more than the broken toe did.

The broke pinky toe was spared but the the first three were hurt bad. I usually don’t bruise, check out this color!

Another delay in conditioning… I think I’ll go shopping for some steel toed shoes.
